Sessions vs multi-threaded parallel processing

Sessions refer to the number of times our software can be opened and run simultaneously on a single machine. The number of sessions is determined by the licence count; a licence count of 1 allows each user to run 2 sessions simultaneously (or up to 4 sessions for cloud licences).

Multi-threading describes the ability of ASReml to take advantage of the parallel processing capabilities of multi-core machines to divide analyses into smaller parts and run them simultaneously on different cores or processors.

It is worth noting that VSNi offer bespoke licensing for users and systems requiring high number of simultaneous sessions. We also offer Corporate Enterprise Solutions, both managed and On-Premise, for large companies wishing to take advantage of unrestricted access.
