ASReml-R and ASReml-SA require access to the Internet when you first activate your licence. After licence activation you will need to maintain an Internet connection whenever you run the software, unless you take your licence offline.
Taking your licence offline
You can take your licence offline for a period of up to 30 days. You then do not need an Internet connection to use ASReml. Note: if you are sharing your licence, for example with other users on a network, taking the licence offline means it will be be unavailable for others to use. If you have installed your software on several devices, for example on both a work PC and home laptop, taking the licence offline means it will be unavailable on your other devices.
Additional notes
When you first activate you licence an HTTP connection is made to a web service on the vsni.co.uk domain to make the licence activation request. A successful licence activation will install a Reprise licence file on your computer. The default licence location is C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\VSNi\enterprise_licenses.
